Paula Hugens, Director

Paula Hugens is a chartered structural engineer with extensive experience in Passivhaus and high performance buildings.
Paula has over 25 years’ experience in Australia and New Zealand and has worked in Queenstown for 15 years, running the office of a large engineering consultancy before setting up eZED.
Paula is passionate about the thermal performance of houses and as a well respected as a Passivhaus engineer, she has written and consulted extensively about low energy buildings.
Dr Paul Jaquin, Director
MEng PhD CPEngNZ IntPE
Dr Paul Jaquin is a chartered structural and geotechnical engineer with a particular expertise in rammed earth and straw bale building.
Paul has over 15 years’ experience in the UK, Sweden and New Zealand, and has been in Queenstown for 7 years. Paul has worked on large scale civil engineering projects around New Zealand, but is now focussed on low carbon and sustainable engineering.
Paul has a PhD looking at the conservation of historic rammed earth using soil mechanics principles, and is a recognised expert in unsaturated soils.
